About the product
Imperio Rojo is a Costa Rican farm located at an elevation of 1600–1800 meters above sea level. The farm places a strong emphasis on quality and consistency, cultivating several prized varieties—including our exceptional Catugeisha. All coffees from Imperio Rojo are grown in very limited quantities, making this a true microlot. The high altitude and careful cultivation contribute to the unique character and refined profile of this rare offering.
We were genuinely excited about this limited release—and the sample we received exceeded our expectations. As the name suggests, Catugeisha is a hybrid of Caturra and the highly esteemed Geisha variety. It delivers everything you’d expect from a Geisha: a refined flavor profile with standout notes of peach and jasmine. Thanks to its Caturra lineage, it offers a touch more sweetness and a rounder, more balanced cup overall. It’s a sensory experience remarkably close to a classic Geisha, but at a more approachable price point.
