About the product
Naturally processed Rwanda for filter brewing is a new addition to our offering. A filter coffee prepared from these beans delivers a vibrant African profile with notes of pear, blackberries, and blackcurrants.
The Kabyiniro washing station is located in Kabyiniro village, Myiha cell, Muhororo sector, in the Ngororero District of Rwanda’s Western Province. The area has a tropical high-altitude climate, with elevations ranging between 1,700 and 1,950 meters above sea level. It is one of Rwanda’s regions with high rainfall, with average annual temperatures between 16°C and 21°C. Annual rainfall ranges from 1,100 to 1,500 mm, creating highly favorable conditions for coffee cultivation.
In the past, farmers in the Muhororo sector were primarily engaged in subsistence agriculture, focusing on food crops. However, they later realized that coffee is one of the most important cash crops compared to others.
In 2003, the idea of establishing a coffee growers’ cooperative emerged. Initially, it consisted of a group of 28 members (6 men and 22 women). With the vision of expanding their coffee plantations and increasing their income, they requested land from local authorities for coffee cultivation. Their request was approved, and they were allocated approximately 30 hectares of land, where each farmer is now responsible for their individually assigned plot.
