My name is Martin and coffee is my passion. I was first introduced to coffee culture during my travels through Japan and Australia. In Japan, I discovered the art of detailed filtered coffee preparation. In Australia, I got my first hands-on experience of making espresso while working in a local coffee shop.
My name is Martin and coffee is my passion. I was first introduced to coffee culture during my travels through Japan and Australia. In Japan, I discovered the art of detailed filtered coffee preparation. In Australia, I got my first hands-on experience of making espresso while working in a local coffee shop.
After returning home, I joined a small family business specialising in the import and sale of speciality foods from around the world. One of the commodities we imported was Fairtrade coffee – Single Origin – from the French roaster Lobodis. Thanks to this coffee, I discovered varietal coffee from plantations worldwide and it awakened my desire to learn more about coffee culture. I started working for a small local café where I met the real coffee enthusiasts. One of my colleagues was also a roaster and he invited me to visit the roastery where he worked. The moment I smelled the freshly roasted coffee, I knew this was my path.
For me, being a roaster means discovering and developing the potential of each coffee bean. Each bean has a different flavour, depending on the variety and where it was harvested. Only thorough and carefully selected roasting can bring out this flavour. That’s why every roast is a unique process for me. It requires a personal approach and passion. This is incredibly fulfilling and gives me freedom and an endless source of new knowledge.For me, being a roaster means discovering and developing the potential of each coffee bean.
