About the product
Guji Dimtu is a specialty coffee from Ethiopia’s Oromia region, specifically the West Guji area. It comes from approximately 600 smallholder farmers in the villages of Buku Sayisa and Dimtu, who deliver their harvests to the Dimtu Wate washing station. Established in 2019, it is one of the highest-altitude processing stations operated by Gujoo Trading. The coffee is grown at elevations of approximately 1,950 to 2,150 metres above sea level.
The farmers grow traditional Ethiopian coffee varieties known as Heirloom, including Wolichu and Kudhume, as well as cultivars 74112 and 74110. The coffee is processed using the Honey method, in which part of the sweet mucilage is left on the beans after the outer skin is removed. During drying, this mucilage influences the final flavour profile and helps enhance the coffee’s natural sweetness.
In the cup, you’ll discover notes of blackcurrant, cherry, and red grape, complemented by delicate hints of black tea. As the coffee cools, a sweetness reminiscent of pear and honeydew melon begins to emerge. The result is a complex, fruit-forward coffee with pleasant sweetness and a delicate tea-like character.
The coffee is processed by Gujoo Trading, a company that, in addition to producing specialty coffee, actively supports local communities. In cooperation with its partners, the company helps provide menstrual hygiene products for schoolgirls and develops projects aimed at improving access to clean drinking water.
