About the product
Washed Caturra is our staple coffee from the Guatemala La Serranía farm. It is roasted for espresso, where its pleasant fruity character truly shines, highlighted by green apple acidity balanced with the sweetness of cane sugar.
Our Guatemalan coffee is sourced directly from our friends at La Serranía Farm, located in the El Progreso region in the Sierra de las Minas mountains. The highest parts of the Sierra are home to a protected area of approximately 100,000 hectares, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its exceptional biodiversity.
The plantation is situated in a rainforest environment, characterized by dense, humid forest, at elevations ranging from 1,300 meters in the lower parts of the farm to 1,700 meters above sea level at higher elevations. Most of the farm is planted with pine (Pinus maximinoi) and Inga trees, which provide shade for the coffee plants, supply organic matter used as natural fertilizer, and help prevent soil erosion.
